Thread: Why re-use the same pete-rock beat?

  1. #1

Default Why re-use the same pete-rock beat?

Sonny's Missing has the exact same beat as "Royal Flush" on Pete's "NY Finest" album. Question is, why use the same beat? maybe Pete used it because he thought CL2 would never come out? Its a great beat but with Pete's track record, you'd think he'd have another track he couldhave used?

Rae had that beat first. In 2006 or so there was a video on Rae's myspace of him pumping the Sonny's beat among others in his whip.

Pyrex Vision is the perfect scenario for when you should you just say fuck it and re-use a sample. It's so much better than the original (beat wise anyway) and it fits rae's delivery perfect. Sonny's missing is not as great an example, but it's the same idea. Most people outside of pete rock fans or hip-hop heads wouldn't be familiar with it and it's a dope song, why not use it?

The 10 Bricks beat (Dilla) has been used numerous times and it still sucks.

Doesn't matter, it's irrelevant is Rae only HAS it...Pete actually RELEASED it before Raekwon a year ago. So if Pete beat him to the punch, considering Raekwon was also on the same damn album, how would of he NOT known?

yeah it's a little weird that he decided to use that beat despite it appearing on "NY's Finest" - and it ain't like that's some shitty ass underground album that nobody heard it. if you're a Wu-Tang fan you're most likely to have heard that LP... don't really care too much because the beat is flames and Rae murked it.

nahhh, rae murked it but royal flush aint wack, track on ny finest was pretty dope in its own way, and pretty much most hiphop heads heard ny's finest, shit was one of my faves the year before, but the chances are most avg hiphop listener didn't hear it so w/e
