Default Tom Cruise Confirmed for Mission: Impossible IV

Paramount Pictures announced today that it is making Mission: Impossible IV. The film, which will be produced by Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) and Bad Robot Productions and will star Cruise, will be released Memorial Day weekend 2011.

"Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise," said Paramount Pictures Chairman & CEO Brad Grey.

Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are attached to write the script, from an original idea by Cruise and Abrams.

The studio, Cruise and Abrams are in now the process of identifying a director for the film. Cruise's "Mission: Impossible" franchise has grossed over 1.4 billion globally.

Mission: Impossible IV will be co-financed by David Ellison's Skydance Productions.

The move puts the fourth installment up against The Hangover 2, while Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens a week earlier on May 20th.

What's funny Check Two? I liked part 2 and part 3. The first one was disappointing. I'll check out the new one when it comes out. I wonder if Ving Rhames, Larry Fishburne, Michelle Monaghan are gonna return.

Something about MI3 didn't sit well with me after watching the whole thing. I think it's the overall story, some of the locations like Asia, some of the color palettes of the movie, also the end where Tom is going through pain from the device stuck in his body. That's why I'm not looking forward to 4. It seemed like part 2 is where everything fell together the best: good story, legendary director to bring great action sequences, chemistry between acting talent and better locations.

They have to be careful to not exhaust the franchise by putting out sequels that are unoriginal, hopefully they come up with something fresh on 4.
