I watched part II for this first time last night, gotta be one of the most beautifully shot movies ever. The whole thing is just lush no homo. tThey dont pay enough attention these days to how god a film looks. Theyre just obsessed with flashy camera angles and fast moving speed camera shots. This is the sort of film where nearly every single scene could be framed into a picture.
And on top of all the aesthetic crack is just the ridiculuos acting abilites on show from basically every single cast member. De Niro's screen presence, Pacino's furious subtlety in every thing he does, the Mayer Lansky dude was also, incredible.
The reason I think this is better than Part I, is not just for the 2 reasons above though. It's also because after watching Part I, my feeling was that the book was alot better, and that I had been short changed with the movie. I think anyone who had read the book before seeing part I wouldve been sligtly dissapointed with all the things that were left out of the film.
Only parts of Part II are based on the book though, so it doesnt have that problem. But I feel like even if it was all based on the book, the acting and the visualz wouldve made up for the fact that it couldnt live up to the book.
