i know a lot of fans of the wu-tang clan have equal love for Nas, but almost just as many decry him for allegedly 'falling off' after illmatic, it was written, i am, or whatever....i'm one of those who believes that not only did Nas never fall off, but he is one of the greatest MCs ever to bless the genre of hip-hop. from 94-97, he was perfectly flawless, and yes, by that i'm saying it was written was an album lacking in any missteps, on par with illmatic, in my opinion. that preceding statement will probably obliterate any credibility on my part, but even after it was written, nas was fairly consistent. i am... is another great work, coming right before nastradamus, probably the worst cd in the Nas catologue. but even here, in the supposed low point of his career, Nas has more highlights than stretch marks. every album after that has been solid, tight, and cohesive. he still brings quality music to the table, even if he doesn't always brandish that edge that we like to characterize as 'Nasty Nas'. anyways, speak your opinions and thoughts....

Nas is a real MC and he has evolved thruogh the body of his work. I think where the controversy starts is just the battle for social acceptance. The Wu don't give a fuck about that but you ohave to respect Nas for making an attempt to reach more people with his music. Just listen to the last Nas album and you will hear that he is the same nigga that dropped Illmatic but he's older and wiser. Of course most rappers come out at their rawest but most never get back to their roots

fuck another NAS thread.........
........ILLMATIC =classic, IT WAS WRITTEN=CLASSIC (underrated)...........after these albums NAS albums were really inconsistent, like there were dope tracks on I AM, NASTRADAMUS, STILLMATIC, etc.........but alot of garbage fast forward tracks on these albums I think GODS SON, and STREETS DISCIPLE were good steps forward, but again these albums had some medicore tracks as well. |

yeah before I Am, i cant find any Nas cut that i dont like. but from I Am to the present day, i can probably list about 6 or 7 songs that i detest. but that's to be expected...he had to come down to earth sometime. and for him to have more albums than bad songs is quite an accomplishment, in more ways than one.
