I was just reading an article about a rapper from A poor country who talked about how tough his youth was and how he developed thick skin.

Why do people wear "struggle" as a badge of honour?

Why must they tell people how hard their past was?

Why do they think people care about their "struggle"?

How relevent is "toughness" and "struggle" in an age when today's people are NOT tough compared to people of the past?

well, alot of people do this, you'll notice it everywhere.

this particular case, i'd say, sometime its part of the game of survival. Even if your not tough you gotta act it, cuz you can't show weakness.
Its a primitive act but its something that is still useful and essential for humans who come from certain places.
Alot of times, they can't turn it off, especially if they have been that way since birth.
