which system of mythology specifically?
the library of greek mythology by apollodorus (translated of course) is a good primer for that, for egypitan mythology i have the oxford essential guide to egyptian mythology as well as 'the complete gods and godesses of ancient egypt'...i have a book of norse legends somewhere but i don't remember the name of it |

Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, Hesiod's Theogony, and his Works and Days, The Bibliotheca, and the Argonautica. The Aeneid by Virgil is required to complete the Trojan Trilogy.
As far as Egyptian I don't think there are any translations of primary documents that compare to the Greek ones I mentioned. Most of the non fiction stuff on I've come across is either dry and boring or biased against the Egyptians (aka written a about a hundred years ago.) Norse Gods, check the The Prose Edda, The Poetic Edda, Gesta Danorum, Ynglinga saga, and the Sagas. Then read the Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion by J R R Tolkien... You'll deja vu like a mother fucker.
