Dope flick... really tells the tale of the Japanese side of the battle of Iwo Jima. They had no chance, and they knew it. I did finish the movie with the notion that General Kurybashi(SP?) was a real stand up dude. Ken Watanabe delivers a really solid performace as the General.

When the Japanese started blowing themselves up in the caves..whoa..sick shit.

Did you see the other one too? Flags Of Our Fathers? Eastwood did a terrific job on both.

this movie was ok. Alot of it is Japanese dudes running across something and getting mowed down and taking their own lives.

The acting was great, the camera work was great but the thing that really did it for me was the music...beautiful soundtrack. Eastwood has a way with soundtracks for his films...remember Claudia's theme for Unforgiven?

IMO Humble opinion this movie was much better then Flags of Our Fathers.
Letters had some great acting and it was a more intense story that dealt with their culture. I seen both movies and I appreciated the fact that in one movie you seen one version and the other you see what happened it was really good. The grenade part was crazy. It was fucked up one the two american soldiers had the 2 japanese soldiers as POW and they looked at each other and one says I have a better Idea after the squad leaves and they shoot them even though they were no threat that was really a good scene.
