Default Sept.20th Tupac Album 'The Rose'

On Sept. 20th, 2005 to mark the ninth anniversary of his death, the estate of Tupac Shakur will release a new album inspired by his poetry.

Released by Amaru Entertainment, "The Rose Vol. 2" features an array of guest artists who interpreted 'Pac's poetry and composed 15 original songs for the album. Some of the featured appearances include Ludacris, Lyfe Jennings, Bone Thugs -n- Harmony, The Outlawz, Memphis Bleek, Talib Kweli, and Shock G (Digital Underground).

Three talented young women who all honed their skills at the Tupac Summer Performing Arts Camp also contribute original material to the album. Celina Nixon, a former member of "Pac's Kids," and now the Artistic Director for the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation provides "The Eternal Lament" to the album. Current "Pac's Kids" attendees - 16 year old, Morgan McKenzie and 15 year old, Amber Granderson contribute a poem and vocal solo blend entitled, "Poetry."

The proceeds from sales of "The Rose, Vol. 2" will go to benefit the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which is raising $3 million needed for the completion of a Center for creative arts. The Center just recently opened Phase One of its three stage construction in Atlanta, Georgia and erected a bronze status of Tupac this past August.

The track listing for The Rose Vol. 2 is as follows:
  1. Intro feat. Black Ice
  2. Power of a Smile feat. Bone Thugs -N- Harmony
  3. The Eternal Lament feat. Celina
  4. Fallen Star feat. Talib Kweli
  5. In The Depths of Solitude feat. Ludacris
  6. Movin On feat. Lyfe Jennings
  7. Life Through My Eyes feat. Memphis Bleek & Tupac
  8. When Ure Heart Turns Cold feat. The Outlawz
  9. Black Woman feta. Jamal Joseph & Che Davis
  10. Only 4 The Righteous feat. Yoyo
  11. Where There is a Will... feat. Boot Camp Clik
  12. When Ur Hero Falls feat. Impact Kids
  13. And 2morrow feat. Shock G
  14. If I Fail feat. Dead Prez
  15. Poetry by Amber & Morgan of Pac's Kids

Yea, that sounds like itll be an ill album. Nice featured emcees, and BlackIce the poet on the first track is a real cool dude, I like his poetry...seen him twice on DefPoetry season 1&2. I always believed that if I had a debut album, it'd be a poetry/hip-hop collabo like that.

doesn't matter if you like pac or hate him, you gotta admit he's a legend in the rap game. more so than biggie by far. i'm not sure how i feel about this upcoming album, but i do like the fact that so many artists are doing a homage to unfinished work. if i was pac, i'd be smiling in heaven. it's like finishing a painting that was stopped before it was released to the world.
