Satan encourages man to disobey God and he does.
He has chosen satan as his master.
He is given another chance.
Live under God's rules and be rewarded.
Live under satan's rule and be punished.
Rejecting intelligence had nothing to do with it.
This is a very shallow interpretation based on face value of the story. There are metaphors that are contained within the adam and eve story that the author explains.
Why call it the tree of knowledge? The bible could have called it the tree of anything else you can possibly think of but chose the word knowledge. Why do you think that is?
