Im glad some of you can think the same way.....that means we can get somewhere around here.

The problem is there are now too many threads where they are created not to build but rather to attack groups of people, then a series of ad hominems start, making the threads even worse.

That means we need to start from zero since there are numerous that dont know how a forum like this supposed to function.

Wow I was smart back when I went to school. Nowadays what I said seems obvious but it could be obviously not. We all need to start from zero sometimes.

This reminds me a few months ago when LHX and I met up after one of the classes he used to teach. We briefly talked about some of our KTL posts from 2005 and 2006 and wondered how we ever got to that level of thinking.

I dont know if you can say this forum "fails" after it's lifespan. Those topics you listed are the ones that get the most views.

Nevertheless from my original post, so what if they are posting like that? If you are thinking critically and want to discuss those things without changing someone's belief structure, you should be at least finding out why they are drawing those conclusions rather than dismissing the posters as a nutjobs. Most of the time its someone thinking they know why the poster is drawing the conclusions and make a straw-man, shallower version than the conclusion really is. In reality its part of a denial process.

I did my share of entering those topics without interfering with clashing belief structures and trying to learn from them. Now I can just avoid most of them since I already did those discussions.

I guess people are so passionate about their beliefs, cus its either changed their lives or they've witnessed other people do the same that they dont take a second thought. Ive been guilty of doing this but if you take the time to listen you'll find that different circumstances take a different approach. This is a good subject we can learn from more than just a post on a forum
