i'm reading hefners biography as i've said before in another thread. as i continue reading his character becomes and more and more compelling to me. Everything he stands for is ironic. He gained his popularity and wealth by advocating the sexual revolution and fighting against 'up-tight' magazines and media that would only publish nudes if they were painted or drawn. He was revolutionary on his emphasis on real girls, realistic girls that are sexually liberated and as natural and 'girl next door' looking as possible. He was totally against over done, 'model' looking bitches and like monroe cause she had a natural beauty and figure. He also made his mark by pushing the sexual envelope. It's crazy because in his time he was a radical liberal (more acurately a progressive but we'll call it liberal right now) but in our time he has come to be everything he was against to begin with.

he ironically came to be very anti-flynt, which is really a more forward manifestation of what he was trying to be but eventually forgot.

only hef was more about swag. style and sophistication was the real theme of playboy, where as flynt was a grubby pedo looking niece fuck looking gimp weirdo with no charisma

You failed to connect a few dots which make this sound more like a mystery than it is. Of course Larry Flint has way more money than Hef. Hef has a huge mansion with tons of overhead to deal with and only one magazine. Flint has branched out his product to include several publications and videos. He's been empire building since the 70's while Playboy has slowly died.

The other thing I have to add is...Larry Flint changed his political views after he was shot.
