Dinosaurs first evolved bird-like plumage for courtship displays rather than flight

birds don't usually have tails that long. i'm not convinced it was a bird.

i've heard that if there was ever nuclear holocaust, everything will die but rats and cockroaches will survive. their bodies are built to withstand shit that not many other species can. now, if they could possibly survive in a nuclear holocaust who is to say they haven't survived many, many natural disasters for eons?

I'm not saying the one you pictured was a bird but if your talking about them evolving then maybe as they got smaller then the tail would obviously become a lot smaller too and it does show that not all dinosaurs were reptile like. It's all just speculation and theory though when all you haveto study is their bones. Cockroaches are very resistant to radiation, not sure about rats. Depending on exposure though if there was enough radiation then even they wouldnt be able to survive

if not radiation, rats would have survived natural disasters.
i still don't think that 'bird' was a bird. there are other skeletons that are more bird like. ![]() i reckon this ^ one had feathers. flamingo/heron looking. i can see it with feathers and not scaly like in the artists version of what it looks like in google images. large wingspan and beak and short tail. if you took the head off of that and turned it around then put it back on again, the beak would look more in line with those birds i mentioned.

Yeah that one looks like it might have been feathered, wouldnt say it's beak is short though! I think it's definatley plausible that not all dinosaurs were scaly. They could well have different coats depending on their enviroment. Again though, we can only guess...

didn't mean to say the beak was short, just the tail was short.

the main difference seems to be the shape of the head, the dinosaur one has a very distinct pointy shaped head. Suppose it's possible that as they became smaller the head just naturaly became the more usual shape that u see today
