it doesn't matter that a white director took over. what matters is that a shitty director took over. Spike already proved he can make a great biopic with Malcolm X. the producer is just chicken shit and took the safe route

Spike already has the Michael Jackson documentary (Bad 25) coming out on Thanksgiving, and he's directing the remake of the South Korean film Oldboy (awesome movie!), and he's supposedly making a sequel to Inside Man

still, this movie is going to suck without Spike directing it. too many Spike haters out there. the dude can direct, don't give a shit about his politics
