Metal Gear Solid "The Phantom Pain" trailer (MGS5?)

This is a great holiday for us gamers. A few incredible games have been announced for release on 2013, and today I gonna show you what Santa have for us. An epic trailer was released over the weekend about a new game from Konami. Apparently this could be Metal Gear Solid 5 called "The Phantom Pain" by a developer studio called Moby Dick (Possibly a fictitious studio).

Looking at the trailer it's evident that Big Boss on Ground Zero and Phantom Pain are different ages meaning that these 2 games are from different times. What puzzles me is the timeline between them, because of what I could see the Phantom Pain Snake looks a bit younger than the one on Ground Zero.

For me Ground Zero and The Phantom Pain are the same game. My assumption about the sequence on Phantom Pain is possibly a flashback to 1972 when he was in a coma and The Les Enfants Terribles project was created. Thus the missing arm. The whole dreaming effect he is having could be Psycho Mantis (Or who ever the floating character is) doing.

In this interview on the "Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Conference: The Future of FOX - PAX" he says that GZ is more like a prologue.

Check out the gameplay at the end. You get to see that Big Boss can drive vehicles on this game and even call Helicopter support.




BTW... Where are the MGS fans at? This is like the greatest announcement this year.

Its a good way to hype up the fans

I can see where the comparisons are coming from but most of it just seems like a stab in the dark to me -especially the Kojima anagram-

Its not MGS related IMO, its a diff game leaning more into dream stuff hence the flaming whale & man. Plys Big Boss never lost an arm

One of the links about Madnar it says this: "This role was also referenced in a radio conversation with George Kasler during the fight with Big Boss, where he mentions a rumor about Madnar commencing emergency surgery on Big Boss by replacing both hands, both feet, right eye, and right ear with snatcher organs under orders of an Eastern Bloc despot. This reference was also mentioned in the Metal Gear Solid 4 Database."

It was only a rumor first off, second this game (if even MGS related) can't be beyond MG2SS since BB was already put into the nanomachine coma when Zero recovered him. Third, if BB truly lost all those body parts after MG1, he wouldnt of been able to successfully rescue all the Outer Heaven traitors, child soldiers/orphans & personell all BEFORE OH was destroyed in the end.

Bad news is David Hayter will not be the voice of Big Boss, you can hear from the little gameplay at the conference Snake has another VA. There're no explanations as to why this is, only the news on Gamespot saying that Hayter wasn't even called for MGSV.

After GZ hes in a coma for 9 years. That probably changed his voice a lot since he also hasnt smoked in a while. That gives room for Richard Doyle to finally step in.

The God Kojima works in mysterious ways. He said both games are part of MGSV, but GZ is a prologue to Phantom Pain.

Makes sense, but still the character have Snake's face. It would be very weird to see that face and not listen to David Hayter iconic voice. On MGS4 it was ok because he was old and almost looked like a different character.
