Deep was just thinking something similar a few days back.

When we needed high advice and or medicine for something serious, we went to our medicine men/ women or our wise men/women.
And we had to take a long journey outside of our camps to get to them.

Why this was so, hit me shortly after that thought. Will build more on it later when I'm in front of a PC.

Medicine men are typically accused of being in league with satan so they were killed. They had different explanations for why things happened and what to do about it. This means they are not part of the group (when the group believes in something different).

the group recognized these people as sages/wise men

they were outside of the camp because in order for wisdom to ferment, you have to make mistakes and experiment with that which the rest of the camp isn't bold or strong enough to deal with - they weren't ostracized or disrespected by the camp - and they didn't need to be among us in those stages that made them somewhat dangerous - these people had to become stronger than the poison that was on their land

Few months ago, in a part in Africa, some of those types were burned til dead. Not everybody likes those types. They usually do this stuff in secret. The secret arts. These beliefs are not state sanctioned so they gotta hide. It is called the "occult" for a reason.

Those Africans who told u that LIED to u bro..they probably were playing on your limited views on the mindset of Africans when it comes to African Americans ..they do that a lot..they understand black people in this country have a very lost perception of Africans, they understand that a lot of blacks in this country see Africans as backwards poor people from third world countries who aren't on their level and like wooly said,in turn treat them like shit so they play on that to their advantage and make you feel like your view on them or their view on you was something they were programmed to preconceive when they first stepped foot here

Also let me clear something else, the American media's portrayal of America in Africa is 90% never negative, and that includes how they potray African Americans, they try to pot ray this utopia where everyone lives in harmony,where's there's justice, where you can walk in and become and instant success without trying too hard, they rarely show the real truth about the Americas..the poor here, the struggles, the racism,police brutality etc..most people in Africa grow up watching feel good American shows with value and have a very twisted perception of America..it's this kind of propaganda that attracts them to come here in the first place till the see the reality of this country for what it is..that's why the average African, when he makes a bit of cash,leaves and returns home when he realizes this place isn't like the Cosby show or Beverly hills, the irony is..the media here depicts Africa as this wasteland of starving people who's infrastructure is mainly mud huts and primitive which is one of the biggest non facts there is..I can't tell u how many times they show Africa and I see pretentious Americans getting emotional and pitiful talking about "how can people live like this, we gotta help them" etc and I laugh
