Met the GZA 2001 in TX, SPI
Funny story I met the GZA in Spring Break 2001, I was in south padre island where he was performing at some club, which i was mad cuz i couldnt make the show . i got there a day late, but on the following night i was just chilling on the strip were everyone hangs out, and i see the GZA pass right in front of me and I couldnt believe it, everyone there did not know who the GZA, he was just walking like any regular person would without no one asking for autograph....I was telling my friend, yo thats the GZA, but my friend didnt even know what wutang meant, he probably that i was trying to speak chinese or something,, I had never seen a star and by far not one of my idols. It was funny cuz i yelled at him "GZA! GZA!" and then he turned around with his two friends.. I was like yo GZA i got mad respect for you and the WUTANG" but me and him couldnt understand each other since we both got different slangs. But we did understand the respect for the person and the artist. I must spoken with him for a couple of minutes and just gave him a pound and he disappeared into the party crowded streets of South Padre Island. So thats how i met the GZA and i will one of these days meet the whole wutang ...peace

we had different slang., i could nt make out his words. he sounds different when hes talking, he s alot clearer when he raps..plus im from texas border with mexico, nuevo laredo , I speak spanish most of the time and plus that time i was speechless, i couldnt really say anytihing but be star struck in front of one of my idols in hiphop...all i said to him was " I respect your music, lyrics. and the whole wutang family," ....and " I am a fan since that day in yo mtv raps when Fab Five Freddy did an a show at shoalin island with the whole wutang clan and they premiered the "method man" video for the first time...I was impressed by the style of music since i grew up on gangstarr, tribe called quest, you know some jazz type of hip hop, but when i heard the wu, I was like this is what i have been waiting for, the grime, unedited, hardcore and vivid rhymes, and the killah beats that RZA produced to make that first album one of the greatest of all time..I liked the way they didnt care about the mainstream, you know like makin something for the pop culture, they didnt care about the engineering of the album to much, the editing of the lyrics and brief mess ups on the mic, it was raw and real, and that my friend is perfect.,, Wutang forever....shout outs to the whole clan holdin down for the masses....peace
