I saw k-os live last night - very good show. Something about hip-hop with a band is extremely gratifying (see: The Roots), maybe because it validates hip-hop as a true musical form of expression.
Anyway, the show began with the song "B-Boy Stance", but the second track he performed was... Liquid Swords. I couldn't believe that shit - he started belting out "When the emcees came...." - I almost lost it. And the band was playing the beat.... sounded sick. He did the whole first verse... it was amazing. Props to k-os for representing true hip-hop.

Hey arcane....your back!
But yeah..I got both of his albums. Joyful Rebellion was a huge success, but I still like Exit better. When I heard Joyful Rebellion last year I was like I havent heard anyone put a hiphop album out like that in quite a while.

Peace 36 and Prolifical... Nice to have a place to discuss hip-hop again. The other forums out there aren't really the same...
I think I prefer Exit as well, though it's close. It took me a while for Joyful Rebellion to grow on me. Exit hit me right away. In any case, both are worth buying. In a day and age where very few artists these days actually achieve the success they deserve (too many great artists go unnoticed and too many terrible ones get too much credit), k-os is one of the few artists where the mainstream is actually getting it right (finally). Oh, and if you're looking for k-os on a more pure hip-hop tip, check for "Rise Like The Sun" and "Musical Essence". Those tracks are maybe 10 years old now - real nice.

yea i saw him like back in october, he played liquid swords then also...my friends had no idea what it was, cuz they mostly like rock music, but i loved it....k-os is good cuz he successfully bridges hip hop in different styles of music seemlessly....but he's not just hip hop...all in all the guy makes great music

fuckkkkkkkkk that...any band could play liquid swords, i know those lyrics liek the back of my fuckin hands!! so give me a million dollars and mad love for it...that song is the easiest guitar riff and drum beat...it's the classic of all classics which does no go without saying, but k-os imo makes shitty music...
