and is what MC's do over Crazy, Ill, Unreal, Carnage-Like, Head-Bangin', Dope, Savage ect... beats, this equals Hip-Hop.

i voted yes initially but i'm changing it to no. the MC/rap portion of hiphop is poetry but the other elements arent. so you couldnt say hip-hop as a whole is poetry.

rap isn't poetry to a beat, poetry is more expressive and visualy creative, hell most rappers can't tell the difference between a similie and a metaphor

Thinking about it, pretty much any song lyrics can be classed as a form of poetry. Not just cofined to rap.
