Default The Soul of Christianity- Huston Smith

I got this book on sale at Barnes and Nobles for $6. Huston Smith was one of Joseph Campbell's students and this book is very similar to his works, exploring the symbolism and deeper meanings of Christianity. Smith constantly rants against science trying to make religion obsolete, which is a bit annoying because that's not the point of science and after a while you start to say, "OK, I get the idea already!" but eventually he stops ranting about science and the book gets along nicely after that. He interprets Christianity in a way that can be universally understood and applied, regardless of the reader's religion. He also clarifies common misconceptions about the faith. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend it to anyone interested in Christianity. You can gain something from this book whether you're a fundamentalist Christian, a staunch atheist or a member of another faith.
