I already posted all my favorite death metal albums in the metal thread, but here's one I haven't seen anyone post here:

One of the best brutal/tech death metal releases of all time. Craaaaazy vocals. Un-fucking-believable drumming. Mind-shredding guitar solos. Evil-but-rockin' riffs. Even the bass gets some spotlight, which is uncommon for extreme metal.

Also gotta rep the first three Morbid Angel albums. Shit is essential.

All of you ought to check out Deathspell Omega. They're not really death metal, but progressive/avant-garde black metal that use a lot of technical death metal style song-writing. They are probably the best extreme metal band out today. Truly evil stuff.

Here's their 22-minute song "Chaining the Katechon" in three parts. Don't let the length deter you. This shit never gets boring. Riffs run the gamut from the twisted & disturbing to the majestic & beautiful.
