i went throwing bread in my local river yesterday. i got the bread from the local greek shop. i went out to feed the ducks but none were to be seen along the part of the river the kids and dogs like to play in, but i still threw bread in there for the fishes. as i got closer to the hospital the mallards were there, so were the pidgeons, a couple of coots and a rook or raven too (i can't tell the difference between a rook and a raven) the little coots didn't get a look in because of the mallards. i can't throw for shit. poor little cootie pies. one or two managed to get a piece of bread - finally - and they all heard me cheer for it. i had to try and feed them all somehow and i tried a bit myself. the birds and ducks and i liked the bread so much i had to go and get another 2 loaves. i went to the petrol station first but i weren't paying £1.59 for 1 loaf - they had sold out of brioche bread but don't know how much they cost (probably a bomb), i got the bread for 80p at the greek shop. i was planning on going to Iceland to get their 2 loaves for £1.50 but i got to the greek shop first.

on the way to the river - which is just behind the general side of the local hospital - i saw 2 men, 1 had his face bashed in and the other had a cast on his right foot. i didn't know who they were but i thought i'd share with anyone i saw. they both took a bit and i went on my way. it wasn't until after i'd gone that i had a suspicion that they were injured because they had sexually abused young children. i offered bread to everyone. as i got nearer to the riverside there was a couple walking by, i offered them some bread too but they didn't even look at me, like i was some kind of shit. as the couple walked past i looked back and the female turned her head to give me one fucking dirty look. offering bread to rich cunts is a no-no. rich cunts who obviously didn't care for bread from a tiddlywink. i probably give her man the horn too. shame. i wouldn't touch her man, she can fuck him for life and she should. i don't do OPP.

one double-stumpy legged pidgeon that's been through the wars - or maybe just clumsy - jumped up onto the railing and came right up to me. i've never fed a bird out of my hand before and i've always wanted to try it, so i tried it with little stumpy and it worked. the very first bit of bread he got out of my hand (right hand cos he was on my right) hurt a bit, he could tell from my reaction that it hurt me so he was more careful after that. he went a bit funny and wouldn't eat from my hand again so i broke off and placed a few small bits of bread for him on top of the railing.

there was another stumpy but not as badly injured as the first. he didn't try to fight the first one by jumping in the first one's place, he was probably a little scared of me too, so he flew down onto the ground, under the railing and on the other side of the railing to me. he had probably been bullied by the more agile pidgeons just like the first one, so he was a little scared but i broke of bits of bread for him and slipped my hand under the railings to feed him from my hands and he did.

i threw that rook/raven a piece of two as well but he/she is like me, prefers meat, mate.

i was feeding the mallards most of the time cos there was more of them. there were plenty of pidgeons too but i know they've been fed with at least 3 boxes of cereal by christina - one of the other patients - earlier on in the day.

i felt sorry for the poor little coots, i did try loads of times but i can't throw for shit - i ain't a pitcher i'm a baller (well i was back in the day, not pro though). when i got near the end of the bread i was desperately trying to get some bread to the coot at the back near the bank of the other side of the river and the mallards could see where i was trying to throw the bread so the swam towards that side of the river too. i paused and shook my head at them, those mallards saw from my reaction that they were naughty and then they slowly swam away to my left - the direction they came from. the coots started to swim away in that direction too, scared that they would get bullied by the mallards once i had gone. i was suprised and quite happy that the mallards started to swim away but i didn't want the coot to go too, i had tried so hard to feed the poor things. i didn't stop trying and was calling for the coots to stay but they didn't stop swimming away, i went for broke and finally i managed to throw a piece to that cootie pie. i was left with a few bits of bread and forgot it was there because while i was feeding them birds i thought of my little skeyeball and started bawling. my mind was all over the place. i haven't told the story as accurately as i could because of it, my mind is still all over the place. i think my adoptive mum B came to my rescue and i walked her to the bus stop and waited to see her get on the bus before i went back into the ward to get my supper. i'd pretty much lost my appetite by then but forced myself to eat.

i only fed the birds and ducks 3 loaves, i gave the last one to B and the boys to have.

Women fall pregnant despite implant
(UKPA) – 6 days ago

More than 500 women have fallen pregnant despite using a popular contraceptive implant, according to new figures.

Thousands had the £90 Implanon implant fitted, which was designed to stop women getting pregnant for three years by releasing hormones into the bloodstream from a tiny tube in their arm.

But 1,600 women complained about the device to the medicines watchdog, including 584 who said they had unwanted pregnancies, according to figures obtained by Channel 4 News.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) confirmed it had received a total of 1,607 adverse drug reaction reports linked to Implanon, citing 2,888 suspect reactions. Nine of the 584 women who reported an unwanted pregnancy used the terms "device failure", "device dislocation", "device ineffective" and "device difficult to use" to describe their experience. Others reported scarring and problems with removing the 40mm long implant, it said.

Channel 4 also said 14 women had made claims against their local health trust and said the NHS had paid out more than £200,000 in compensation to women who fell pregnant or were injured by the implant.

Implanon has since been replaced by manufacturers MSD with Nexplanon, which has a new preloaded applicator and can be detected by X-ray or CT scan.

June Raine, a director at the MHRA, told Channel 4: "We worked closely with the company to enable the new version to be developed. They are fully aware of all the concerns that we have."

A lawyer for some of the women claiming for personal loss and damage said many had not realised the preloaded applicator had not released the implant. Stephanie Prior, partner of Anthony Gold Solicitors, said: "Nexplanon has a new preloaded applicator which is designed to reduce the risk of insertion difficulties and it is radio-opaque so that it can be identified on an X-ray or CT scan if necessary. I have clients who fell pregnant as they were unaware that the Implanon device had not been inserted into their arm and they suffered psychological difficulties as a consequence of falling pregnant and later miscarrying or having to make the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy."

In a statement, manufacturers MSD said: "MSD is confident in the efficacy and safety of Implanon, a contraceptive medicine that has been prescribed to women since its initial approval in September 1999. The basis for successful use of Implanon is a correct and carefully performed subdermal insertion of the implant in accordance with the product instructions.

"If the implant is not inserted in accordance with the instructions and on the correct day, this may result in an unintended pregnancy. In addition, no contraceptive is 100% effective. Post-marketing events are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size. It is generally not possible to reliably establish the frequency or establish a causal relationship to the use of Implanon. Therefore, accumulated reports cannot be used to calculate incidence or to estimate drug risk. For these reasons, it would be inappropriate to discuss numbers of reports. MSD encourages consumers to speak with their healthcare providers if they have any questions about contraceptive options and to report any adverse experience associated with any MSD medication."
