I don't mean instrumental only stuff (though feel free to name anything of that nature), but rather just any song and/or album which has the best guitaring you've heard.
My song pick is... Two of the finest in Eric Clapton and Duane Allman going absolutely nuts over a classic blues rhythm...What more could you ask for? And my album award goes to the very album that this song was taken from. Derek and the Dominoes-Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs Absolutely brilliant. I only wish they'd recorded more albums together.

I think the best electric guitar album ever is "Electric Ladyland" by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Kind of an obvious choice, I know, but I think it's Jimi's masterpiece and it really showcases all of his innovations on the instruments plus it's just great songs from start to finish.

John McLaughlin's band Mahavishnu Orchestra and their album "Birds Of Fire" is a favorite of mine. So is anything by Hendrix.

The Sky is Crying
Far Beyond Driven ...i know this will get dismissed but to me, Dime took precision metal playing to it's pinnacle on this album. he was right there with the above names a far as mastering his own style. |

This must be the 10th time I'm posting this beauty, but this song has the most dreamy guitar work I've ever heard. Especially after 3 minutes the song goes nuts. Then combined with the flute and other instruments it's blissful.
The rest of that album is god awful for some reason, but this one song makes me forget there's even any others songs on the album. |
