what are these public groups and how can we create them? i see them in everyone's profile but i see no option to actually make one

only the admins can make those public groups. the only know public group that is used is "site managers" which 36chambers is a apart of....just so his name is in blue :P

They are mainly for clan gaming sites but it can be used for many other things. Most VB forums dont use them

They act just like other usergroups (mods, regualr posters) in that you can set permissions for them, enable or disable individual forum permissions for them and so forth.

The difference is that you can make them so anyone can join them (public) or private or they can be moderated by Group Leaders. If moderated the Group Leaders get request notices when someone wants to join and they either approve or reject the requests.

On clan based forums, this allows clan leaders to control the members of their own clans easily without requiring continual monitoring by the Administrator of the forum.
