Default Keith Jarrett appreciation thread

Anyone here listens to Keith Jarrett? I first heard him on Miles's "Live-Evil" disc and loved his piano improvisation on the bridge to "Inamorata", it gave me the fucking goosebumps. it couldn't prepare me for "The Köln Concert" though, such beautiful music being created on only one instrument and all improvised is just unbelivable. he really bridges the sounds of jazz with classical performance well.

recently i picked up another album called "Changeless" that he made with Jack DeJohnette and Gary Peacock (they made plenty of albums and tours together) in 1987. this album blew me away too, my favorite being the one i have in my sig right now - "Endless".

from what i understand he and the ECM label are really guarding the use of samples from his records tho, i've heard plenty of bits that would make great hip-hop beats on his albums.

Quote:
For fans, music critics, and musicians, the music of pianist Keith Jarrett can be like a dopamine release in the brain. Like any pleasurable activity —sex, drugs, food—listening to Jarrett's music releases a neurotransmitter chemical in the brain that reinforces the pleasure systems of the body. Pick any spot in his nearly 50-year career and fans will tell you about their first encounter and the visceral response they had to his music. For this writer, it was Bop-Be (Impulse!, 1977), but for others, The Köln Concert (ECM, 1975), or, gulp, the marathon ten-LP (now six-CD) Sun Bear Concerts (ECM,1978) as their initiation into Jarrett's music. Along the length of his career, devotees continually search for that pleasure response they first had with Jarrett's music.
^ this was spot on.
