great choices. satoshi kon was a true auteur. huge loss. magnetic rose along with the whole 'memories' is one of the best things i've ever seen.

that haven't been mentioned:

coppola (godfathers)

billy wilder (shitloads of awesome old school comedies)

bergman (autumn sonata, wild strawberries)

otomo (akira, roujin z)

woody allen (manhattan, match point)

i just started watching kurosawa flicks, any recommendations?

saw yojimbo the other day. dope. the kind of flick its difficult to find any flaws with. dude had major swag. also definitely had a western vibe. i know 7 samurai influenced mag 7 but it seems like this one was a precursor to some of those films of the late 60s. and yeah actually just looked it up was remade as fistful of dollars, and later 'last man standing'

will check those flicks out, just from seeing that film i can guess i'll be a fan. you seen his film 'dreams'? looks interesting.
