a topic i brought up in the cipher..
ight, my question is, Can you get closer and closer and closer to a object without touching it?

these are two sides to the question i thought of that are against each other:

1) yes, because you can move so slightly microscopically that you could keep going on forever without touching the object

or

2) no, because the object is there, and the closer you keep moving to it, you'll eventually reach it

What do you think?

thats called the dichotomy paradox. one of zeno the greek philosophers 9 paradoxs.

logically it should be so that you would never get there because you would always split the distance and that would go on infinitely.

Shit I've def thought about this before even tried to get really really close w/o touching somethin (i mean laying on the floor, one eye open, one hand stabalizing the other). But it's truth that you can move towards an object indefinitely and never touch it, you just lessen the distance. Numbers go FOREVER.

It's similar to the paradox that states that if you shoot an arrow, the arrow never reaches its target in one solid straight line, because before it reaches the target, it must first reach half way, and then half of that, and then half of that, etc..for infinity. Wikipedia has a long list of many paradoxes.
