rap today just allows assholes to live the american dream without actually having to do much if any hard work. they rap. lets be serious rap is not busting your ass. rap is not studying putting in long hours in school and then at your job. its not breaking your back to try and put your kids through school.

rap today glorifies assholes glorifying "yolo". doing whatever the fuck you want. possibly the truest form of the american dream. without having to really put any of the work in to get it.

problem is all these other assholes who dont want to do any real work see these select few assholes living large yet still acting like assholes and they want to do they same thing. problem is most all of those assholes will never get there. and in turn contribute nothing to society. and thus remain assholes.

None of the rappers you posted were ever the ones with the focus on them. When they were out NWA was the dominate force on the airwaves and these rappers were primarily ignored. Except the jheri curl music you posted. people have recreated the 'golden era' to their romanticized liking but even in that time the top rappers were violent and ignorant.

If you go to a rap show and a rapper can speak standard queens english like KRS One it's going to be a majority white show. If you go to a Rakim show it's going to be majority white, Cheef Keef, black. Appealing to blacks is the market in hip hop because white people in large number don't have time for that shit. Black people are the ones making and consuming the most ignorant piece of shit music the genre has to offer and are going outside and acting out what they hear. Do you know how many black people have killed other black people over hip hop related shit? people actually die daily because of this form of music and they're all black.

real talk, gza is performing liquid swords in my city this friday. im going to the show. i asked this one black dude i used to work with if he wanted to go, hes a little younger than me. i had him listen to 4th chamber when we were at the gym. he got about half way through the song and took off his headphones and goes "now i remember why i dont like these guys, they dont rap about anything, they just talk bullshit". but hes got the MMG shit on repeat.

These 'lyrical' rappers dont even need to try and be creative, or try hard at making good music. All they have to do is tell people they are lyrical. Thats all the fans of this sort of music care about. Put a basic break loop behind it, make the drums heavy, have some sort of gimmick, thats it.

at least rappers who arent actively advertising themselves as "lyrical" are having to do something else creative to get attention.
