when Sun Ra was at his best, he made some absolutely marvelous shit. reading about his life is a trip in itself too.. also check out the movie, i think it's called "Space is the Place". out of the stuff i've heard my favorite LP is probably the one called "Lanquidity". you can really hear his strong influence on some of the modern underground producers of the day, like Madlib and especially Flying Lotus.
