Yo
Yamamoto ..., the "author" of hagakure was like a fake gangsta. Yamamoto lived during a peaceful time in Japan, in other words there wasn't shit going on. He wrote about the ideals a samurai should live upto; he never had a chance to prove his loyalty or willingness to die for his master. No wars, no battles, just petty fueds between samurai. The fact that a bushido code had to be written down is pathetic. During the warring periods, no written code was needed. Later on the emperor used the Bushido code to his advantage to ensure civil stability.

Yamamoto himself was never given the highest position of the clan under his master. So the hagakure has a bitter tone in it. For example, Yamamoto wishes that he could be reborn seven times to serve his lord; and he said this after he retired to become a Buddhist monk, although he could not renounce his past life. He also failed to attain satori.
The hagakrue does have practical advice in it, and was republished heavily in Japan during the early 20th century. However, the book has become popular amongst Western businessmen today.

There's more shit to it, but you get the point, don't believe the hype.

Legit, you got the mass produced bullshit. I read it twice. 15 quotes make the whole book. The rest of it is mostly big japanese names that you don't even bother pronouncing.

man

talk that all you want

western businessmen also read the art of war a lot

that dont mean that they get it

whether you get the short version or the long version

whether yamamoto had a chance to walk the walk or not

it is still a crucial book to read for anybody exploring high science or spirituality - especially these days which are plagued with neon lights and fake ass gangsta sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyit

this book is part of the remedy for big ego syndrome

for the record - i also read somewhere that yamamoto didnt even write the book - that one of his students wrote it down

and yamamoto didnt want it published

the knowledge in the book can be dangerous
but these days
the knowledge must be spread regardless

PEACE
