Default Wu-Tang Manual Ownerz

For those who read the book and to those interested, post your comments. What do you think was a really interesting from the book? Any surprises? What chapter was your favorite? What did you appreciate and what did you not appreciate? What was you overall opinion ?

Personally, I think the book was awesome, it gave great incite about the clan. I carry my manual everywhere with me. I think the the most interesting part of the book is when they broke down religions and explained the true science behind them. I think it was a surprise to find out that rza actually went to wu-tang mountain to Train with Sifu. Another surprise to me is how Rza related clan voices and personas to the track as if they were instruments. (very interesting) My favorite chapter was the chemistry chapter. Rza kept it real about "drug usage" I appreciated how much lite was shed on this book. Rza really kept a nice log of things that happened over the years. I really can't wait to see if there will be another manual consisting of books 5-8 . I didn't appreciate the length of the book, i wish it was longer and i wish different clan members had more involvment speaking about things that was going on in their individual lives. Overall i loved the book!

it was real good RZA even explains the lyrics to some of the Wu's classic songs
here are the corrections
Wu-Tang Manual corrections
ERRATA : The following will be corrected in the second printing:

Map: the asterisk next to the location "Park Hill Projects" should be next to the location "
Brownsville
"

Page 10: "Bebop Specialist" should be replaced with "Human Beat Box Specialist"

Page 29: Deck's lines should read, "... Deck had the most compelling lines, "We got stickup kids, corrupt cops, and crack rocks and stray shots, all on the block that stays hot"

Page 42: The top, left-hand caption should read, "The sun symbolizes knowledge, truth and light." The lower, left-hand caption should read. "The five-pointed star symbolizes understanding and children"

Page 45: The section title at the top of the page should read "The Supreme Mathematics (As Paraphrased by The RZA)." The sentences "you walk into a party, a gunfight-look, observe. Do the knowledge". Should be omitted. Below, it should read "4= Cuulture and Freedom", "5 = Power and Refinement", "7 = God", "8 = Build or Destroy", "0 = Cypher"

Page 46: Section title should "The Supreme Alphabet (As Paraphrased by The RZA)"

Page 47: It should read "It's like they say, 'You have to save yourself before you can save others"

Page 48: It shouldl read that the Indian Ocean covers 29,340,000 square miles, the Hills and Mountain cover 1,910,000 square miles, and The Deserts cover 14,000,000 square miles. "The Island are 1,910,000 square miles" should be omitted.

I read it all in a night

I would have preferred more "stories from the road" or "the projects" or more of a biography type deal more in depth about how they all came together and their experiences but it was more of a RZA centered book.

But I still enjoyed it. I enjoyed reading about RZAs machines, the member pages, the lyric explainations, the wu dictionary and the business. The religion part could have been cut down a bit though IMO (although alot of you dudes appreciated it).

if you thought this was good, then check out Miles Davis's auto biography. It's crazy what those old jazz dudes did.

best part of that book. He's at the white house for a dinner and some young chick asks him why he's there not knowing who he is. He replies that he changed the face of music over three decades then asks her who'd you fuck to get here? haha

Default re: The manual

I like the first book because the Rza defines his clansmen from his perspective. The lyrical breakdowns are nice. The begining also reminds me somewhat of a comic book like with all the supaheroes bios in the front.
My favorite qoute is when the rza writes "to my personal taste none could touch the gza. I knew it way before the Wu Tang and I strived to be like him." that relates to me his understanding of humanity. Also my favorite was the entire last book "voices as instruments", "the deadly art of ryhme","the saga continues",and espiecally "the way of the abbot" which I re-read all the time.
Cant wait for the next installment!
the "Live from Germany" Dvd and the Wu tang manual are materials I'm very proud to own. Peace
