well they currently sometimes induce hypothermic states during heart procedures on humans.

but this is much stranger.

I'm curious how they stop the brain damage from occuring due to lack of oxygen. Possibly something to due with the Mammalian diving reflex or the quickness of transfusion (hibernation)? I'll definately look up the journal on this one.
