Not really feelin' this one as a whole. Yeah there's a couple good joints but it loses steam about 4 songs into the album. Certainly not a bad effort but it's both the beats and Deck get's kind of boring...it's another one of those indie albums that try too hard and get lost in the shuffle

Lately i'm bumpin' "uncontrolled substance" alot...and it's my fav deck album...also WAAAYYYYY underrated I think, the beats are fine (above average though) and deck rips it as hard as he does on the clan albums IMO
this album is also very great !!! I love it, but I need to listen to it more

uncontrolled substance was a good album but the movement was terrible imo it was bad an attempt at mainstream sound bumpin n grindin pretty much sums up the album it seems like deck and rza are way too concerned with being accepted by mainstream so they make crappy dance adn fuck songs to do it rza is still my fav and uncontrolled substance will always get spins with me but i read a crtic who said that resident patient continues to follow the formula of the movement so i skipped it sorry deck ill wait for unsung hero

It wasen't that great but I have to admit that sounds of the slums made me believe the album would be great (wu style) but ...no.

When you can put a cd in and just let it play through - you know you've got something. This one was made for the fans.
Classics taken from the stitches of time include "Sound of the Slums", "My Style", "What They Want" and "A Lil Story". Most of the other tracks are solid enough to make the album a tightly forged sword. Weakspots are "I.O.U" and "Do My Thang" which seemed ripped from The Movement and don't fit well. There is also an unwanted freestyle and a couple bonus tracks that don't exactly showcase Housegang (who are actually pretty good). Like The Genius, the guy can't make a bad album. And because Deck pretty much packaged this one up himself - it leaves me wanting more. 9.0 / 10
