Default should producers rap?

I think Pharrell can't rap nor sing, but he's an okay (not great) producer... same goes for Kanye West...

I think RZA is an excellent producer, and his rapskills are okay (not as good as some other wu-members)... same goes for MF Doom, but he's a better rapper...

Other way around: I find Eminem usual an average, unoriginal producer, but he has (though he doesn't always show it (Encore, blegh)) rapping skills...

so, should producers rap? or should rappers produce?

if they can

Jermaine Dupree and Puuf Daddy are turds either way. I've had enough of Kanye and Pharrell. Usually it takes different kinds of minds to be able to each. I can rhyme well, but suck at beats.

its weird, whenever i hear pete rock rappin as half of pete rock and cl smooth, he aint good enough, but i been listening to the (dope as fuck) INI/Deda double album, and the tracks he raps on he actually comes acroos real nice
all the other producers that rap i like, but yeah pharell shouldnt rap, unless its for someones else hook or sumthin, i dont mind him singin
kanye is quite lyrical, but i hate his flow

Look, there's something different. Nowadays more people listen to rap becuz of its production. Next step is that rappers switch to producers, which ain't any problem.

Rap history should be divided in 3 phases

1. Everyone wants to be a DJ - 1970-1987 ("Hi, DJ KRS", LOL)
2. Everyone wants to be a rapper - 1987-2004 (traces till today)
3. Everyone wants to be a producer - 2004-
