I think these two selections from Meth's catalogue make for an interesting comparison. I'm sure the vast majority here agrees that the original Tical is superior to both albums, where The Prequel is inferior.

They both have their share of love jams, hard bangers, vintage Wu tracks and "Def Jamesque" garbage beats. Looking at the whole of both albums, I'm actually not sure which I prefer. Judgement Day suffers from length and an excess of skits. The Day After has some really great production and some other songs where the beats sound thin and not fully realized.

Anyway...what are your thoughts?

421 is a dope album but I have to go with T2000. Its a personal classic and I like it better than tical. Albomst everthing on t2000 is grimey and meth comes some some sick lyrics. I also love the whole concept of the album.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the bad songs on 4:21 are actually a lot worse than the lesser tracks on T2K.

IMO it's like this

Tical 2k - Unrealistic (more hip hop)
421 - Realistic (more gutter/silverbacked)

neither one's a bad thing - but if I had 2 choose 1 I'd be listening 2 right now it'd be 421 only because it's a sign of the time and I appreciate the realism...

Why not do a poll???

True like: "Sum1 done fucked up" (beat)
and "Let's ride" (beat and Genuine)

Lyrically - 421 takes it (on verses)
Lyrically - T2K takes it (on hooks)

T2000 has some dope tracks but as a whole 4:21 is better, easily one of the best hip-hop releases in 2006

Its good but non of them come even close to the 94' Tical, thats a definate classic
