Oxmo Puccino has the most intelligent texts together with IAM (first of all Akhenaton, check him out!!!). www.361records.com <- IAM's label
Saian Supa Crew - incredibley energetic on stage, trust me! They got a new album coming, yes, but also listen to their stuff when they divide into their old crews like "Explicit Samourai", "OFX" and so on... check out www.saiansupacrew.com
Rough material: Booba, MC Jean Gab1, L'Algerino, NTM (they splitted, new songs solo by IV my people)
other popular squads are Sniper, Fonky Family,...
famous solo artists are MC Solaar,
Ol' Kainry (crazy ass song with Raekwon on his last album),
Rocca (did a song with Jaheim, skilled rap, with Latino elements)
Dadoo (sounds very American, funny song named "sale gosse")
you see, HipHop is a big culture in France!

personal advice: Jazz-rap fans will go crazy listening to Khondo who is still down and real!

i think french rap is dead now... nothing new happens. so i prefer listening to old albums. some of them are classic shit.

"Meteque et Mat" by Akhenaton will remain my personal fav. "Opera Puccino" by Oxmo Puccino is a true moment of poetry.

booba? one album was enough for me, it was good, but i don't need anohter one. he's turning himself into a french Ja Rule now...
he can't reach the level of Ideal J for example.
