Default Jah World (recommendations to similar songs)

*note to mods* i dont know if this is the right section, but its Jah World!

lately more than ever ive really been feeling that Jah World track on THE W, and been diggin through a few of my reggae albums, but ive yet to find a reggae artist who sings like Junior Reed over dark gllomy beats like Jah World.

please if anybody can recommend some reggae artists who have that type of sound i would really appreciate it.

btw, i listen to Peter Tosh, Bob, Jimmy Cliff and some Sizzla. I need to get my reggae game up!

thats a good track. Have you ever checked out Don Carlos or the Scientist Its more classic stuff. Scientist has this sort of expirimental psychodelic reggae sound to it, almost comparable to how Rza approached hip-hop (well, thats a bit of a stretch, But its good stuff anyway)

There is plenty of good stuff out there. Dillinger's Cocaine in my Brain album, or check out some of the Trojan Reggae box sets, the dub and rude boy ones for sure. Those aren't really all that "dark" per se, but if you just generally liek Reggae, you might appreciate it.

It sounds like you are talking mainly about Reggae over dark beats, some of Damian Marley's last couple of records have some darker tracks on it. "It was Written" off of Halfway tree, and there is a couple on Welcome to Jamrock.

Good topic. I want to hear more too and I hope other people know some good shit to check out.

Just get the Lee "Scratch" Perry box-set, and you'll be fine.
