Jail Break & Shootout
Two Mthatha prison escapees arrested
September 13, 2007, 22:15 Two of the seven awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from an Mthatha jail have been recaptured and would appear in court tomorrow, Eastern Cape police said. A third escapee was shot dead during the men's arrest, said superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela. "Police spotted the three men travelling in a hijacked combi and cornered them in Greenwood Park in Durban on Sunday. A shootout broke out and one of the men was killed." An AK-47 assault rifle and three 9mm pistols were found in their possession. Fomeleze Sithole (27), initially arrested for murder, armed robbery and possession of unlicenced firearm; and Mvuzo Mafanya (23), arrested for armed robbery, would appear in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court to face additional charges of escaping from lawful custody. The seven escaped from their cell in Wellington prison between 10pm and 11pm on Friday, August 31, by sawing through two burglar bars. |

Gritty, escaping jail over here is nearly impossible now, you'd have to do it while you're being transported.
