Default What do you think of Will Smith as a rapper?

In my opinion he's great and has made great albums. I remember back in the day when I was young we actually got Big Willie Style on cd we used to bump that a lot that was fun to just dance to and stuff. His new album Lost And Found is dope he speaks on some real stuff and he's a good story teller. He's The DJ I'm the Rapper, Homebase, and Code Red are all dope albums. I havn't heard any other albums besides these 5 so I can't really comment on his rest. His albums def aren't always serious and are good for chilling out to and just having fun. He can make club songs without them being negative(take Switch for example). He could easily rap circles around a lot of these cats out now of days. He's def an underrated rapper and doesn't get enough respect. He's also a great actor but that isn't what this topic it about! Show love for a legend.

he's the shit. I love "Summer Time" one of my GOAT tracks, he's a generally really talented person and is good at everything he tries therefore that's why his rap career is overlooked cause he can shine everywhere else even harder

plus this homo obsession in the 90s with gangsta rap (im a fan of it, but i personally think it was what took the first step in killing hip hop) made his clean cut real ass nigga image seem corny and everyone feel for it therefore its no longer safe to be a regular human being in a rap song anymore like he used to do.

Man I aint gonna lie.

I'm 20, so you know I was mad young when Big Willie Style was out and the Men In Black and Wild Wild West songs and of course Fresh Prince show was out and Summertime was a good throwback.

In those days you could say Will Smith was one of my favorite rappers.

But sadly, he has become a joke as I eventually learned about good rap.

Will Smith = good for his time, not as much of a rapper now.

When I think of Will Smith I think of him as an actor, I actually forget he use to be a rapper sometimes.

Groundbreaking in hip-hop without a doubt. I'd just be too embarassed to play any of his music now except in private.

He has plenty of CLASSIC tracks. The Rain is one of my favorite hip hop tracks of ALL time. And if you havnt heard it, please listen to it, it has Jill Scott on the chorus n shit. He has overall a very positive message and like dude said above, he wasnt glorified because he wasnt cursing, or on that gangster shit like everyone wanted.

He was cool back when he was with Jazzy Jeff, wouldn't touch his solo stuff though (especially when he had his recent comeback trying a harder style).

"Fresh Prince" was the man, but Will Smith needs to stick to movies.
