The songs on it was written tell some great stories, but everyone hate the production. Nas is the king and it took Jay's "sneek attack" to wake him up.

Nas is a real MC and he has evolved thruogh the body of his work. I think where the controversy starts is just the battle for social acceptance. The Wu don't give a fuck about that but you ohave to respect Nas for making an attempt to reach more people with his music. Just listen to the last Nas album and you will hear that he is the same nigga that dropped Illmatic but he's older and wiser. Of course most rappers come out at their rawest but most never get back to their roots

My opinion on Nas is that he is the best of all time, plain and simple. He took out Jigga, he has a solid body of work, and he has atleast 3 classics. He has had some misteps in the past, but he has kept it hip hop for the most part and nobody is better than him lyrically. His weakness might be his choice of production which is shaky at times. Overall he is a great talent in a hip hop game that doesnt give him enough credit.

dudes deep, writes about his life, sems to see the world as a lyrical playground to let his energy out on, good or bad....i like him a lot, but damn he needs to stop droppin albums so damn quick..like 5 a fuckin year n shit...lol...
