Source Variety.
Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Klein and Rick Yune will star in Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom's "Street Fighter," based on the popular Japanese vidgame franchise. Twentieth Century Fox will distribute the actioner, set to begin lensing in March. Kreuk, who plays Lana Lang in the CW's "Smallville," will star as martial artist Chun-Li. Duncan will play Balrog, while Klein is stepping into the role of Nash. Yune is taking on the mystical Gen. Rounding out the cast are Moon Bloodgood, Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, Singapore's Edmund Chen and Hong Kong film star Cheng Pei Pei. Producers are still casting the film's villain, Bison. Andrzej Bartkowiak ("Romeo Must Die," "Exit Wounds") is directing from a script penned by "Voltron" scribe Justin Marks. Hong Kong fight choreographer Dion Lam ("The Matrix") is handling the extreme fight sequences. Hyde Park chairman Ashok Amritraj and senior exec Patrick Aiello are producing. Vidgame publisher Capcom exec produces. Project marks the second attempt at turning the "Street Fighter" game into a viable film franchise after Universal's 1994 version, which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia. Plot of the new pic is being kept under wraps but will focus on the Chun-Li character. Shooting will take place in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Vancouver. Hyde Park and Capcom had originally wanted to release the pic to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the "Street Fighter" franchise; the first game bowed in arcades in 1987. Game series has spawned several sequels, spinoffs and remakes. "Street Fighter IV" will hit arcades in Japan this summer and is expected to come out for home consoles later, possibly in conjunction with the film. Hyde Park's recent credits include the Sandra Bullock starrer "Premonition" for Sony and the just-wrapped romantic comedy "The Other End of the Line" for MGM. Hyde Park has a first-look co-production deal with Fox. Cast Confirmed So Far ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gen is now being played by Robin Shou (Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat Movies) ![]()

Best animated adaption of a game, the movie is flawless. One of my favourate animes ever. On a side note, the Japanese score to this anime sucks compared to the western version, that shit sounded mad gay when Ken jumped in.

City Hunter started out as an anime series before they made the live action movie. Did a better job of it than the people behind SF though!
I reckon Kreuk, Klein and Clarke-Duncan are all comitting career suicide with this film. While none of them are getting a tonne of big box office film offers right now, this could end them.
