Yeah Tom Morello is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. When Rage came to Toronto with Gangstarr back in '00, he did the American national anthen 15 min. solo. It was off the fuckin hook.

He always reminded me of Hendrix in that he wasn't just great at playing riffs and solos, but draining every drop of effect and crazy sounds out of his instrument. There are sounds on Rage records that most people don't even realise are coming from a guitar.

not really into him, and Zack was better with Inside Out. I feel like the claim that he's so great at making weird noises is unfounded...I mean listen to old Sonic Youth for weird noises. That shit is like bells and whistles played by Satan's personal instrumental army.

I don't see it so much as "love the weird noises" so much as no one's ever made a guitar sound more hip-hop. they were the first and maybe the only band that really fused together rock and hip-hop that way it should be imo

what was he doing on that vid??? Since it got removed.

I done peeped the one on Tom when they first came out(RATM). I knew what he was doing and then Guitar World started asking him about it a bunch so he showed them how he fucks with the toggle switch first (see the solo for bulls on parade).

What he does is just fully utilize the effects that he uses(peddles) and plays in a really simple manner. He tried to get complicated with audioslave and in my opinion , he failed.

When rage came with the second record (Evil empire) Tom got nasty with it.

Thank god for those Public Enemy records that he had in college.
