Doom 4 is the upcoming installment of the Doom series by id Software. It will use the company's new id Tech 5 engine. It was announced as in production on May 7, 2008, following speculation by John Carmack at QuakeCon on August 3, 2007. In Issue 184 of Game Informer, Doom 4 was speculated to be due for release alongside Rage, late in the third quarter of 2009.

As with previous Doom games, Doom 4 will primarily be a showcase for the PC platform, with John Carmack stating that the PC version of Doom 4 will look significantly better than the console versions due to the power of high-end PC hardware.

It is going to be more like the first two, not like the dark Doom3, so this is going to rock so bad, I'm gonna buy a new computer, when it comes...
