Ive never read anywhere (reviews of black album, general shit around 99 problems etc) that Jay Z's 99 problems was a cover track. I never heard Jay mention that anywhere in anything. Not only is the hook identicle, the beat is too (in style).

Another example of Jigguh aka the swagga jacker stealing shit but NOT paying homage in style.

I like Jay Z and think hes an all time great rapper, but hes sly too.

yeah, but ya have to give back a bit too.

there's a scene in jay's video for this where he gets pulled over. he shoulda had ice-t play the cop in the vid, and then shout him out at the end of the song.

I think most people that are heads knew this w/o having to mention it.....but yeah, generally I think most people thought that Jay was the one behind the concept.....mainly the newbies that wasn't around for when Ice-T was a huge name in hip-hop....
