^^ nah the album was produced by his peeps in D.I.T.C. (Showbiz, Lord Finesse and Buckwild) - a crew very closely connected with Preemo..
Big L's second album "The Big Picture" (which also has Ebonics as you mentioned) features 3 ill Preemo beats and he also appeared on "Thick" (which P produced for D.I.T.C.), "Ebonics (DJ Premier Remix)" [if you liked the ordinary version you gonna fucking LOVE this one) and also "Work part II" from GangStarr.

I agree. Big L at the time would have ate Jay-Z alive lyrically and Jay is my fav all time mc. This album I would give a 4.5. I wish he was given more money to get more high profile names on his albums like Jay did w/BIG and Foxy. I would pick Reasonable Doubt over LOTP&D.

^^ it wasn't like the record label gave Jay-Z alot of money to create Reasonable Doubt - Foxy Brown was the cousin of Clark Kent who produced on the album and also the DJ of B.I.G. plus the album was released through their own imprint in '96... there is a great article on this from XXL.

LODPAD used to be my favorite album ever, but I grew out of this album - no disrespect. the more you listen to his satanic lyrics, the more fucked up you get in the head whether you realize it or not. I respect Big L as a MC but damn he took shit too far.

I used to blast that song like it was nothing.
"I pistol whip the priest every sunday." real talk, and Im not making shock comments at all. this is how I truly feel - his lyrics go over the top and it subtly fucks up your mind. |

"I put his brains in the street, you could see what he was just thinkin"
This album is classic because of lines like this. I'll give it a 4.5 due to a couple beats I'm not 100% on.

Yeah, Its a classic, at least for me, A Personal Classic.
The Punchlines on this album are outta fuckin hand man, Chino XL & Eminem in their primes wish they could come up with shit like that, beats were all dope IMO, the only problem the album had was he left "Devils Son" on the cutting room floor Side Note - Has anybody listened to "Return of the Devils Son", is it worth getting?? |
