I know KRS-One/BDP got fucking loads of album out on the market but I also hear alot of it getting badmouthed. I've also heard some uninspired shit from the man but I do however own 3 of his albums that i'm really feeling - "Return of the Boom-Bap", "KRS-One" and "Hip-Hop Lives".
i'm thinking of getting "Criminal Minded" and "By All Means Neccesarry" and maybe "I Got Next" (what's the opinion on that one?). anything else worth getting?

Definitly "Ciminal Minded" and "By All Means Necessary", two hip-hop classics. Id reccomend "Ghetto Music" too, however he starts to get over preachy, and some of the tracks sound kinda gay, singing about world peace and that, and im not mad on the reggae flavor going on through the songs. I havent heard "Edutainment" but ive heard its not great, coz he gets over preachy. "Sex & Violence" is really dope too though, you should definitly pick that up if you get a chance.
As far as his solo's, i only have the ones you mentioned, but i heard "I Got Next" is pretty dope as well. And ive been told to keep clear of "Spiritual Minded" and most of his shit after.

Spiritual minded is pure garbage, avoid at all cost. I Got Next is good though.

People often say that his album KRS-One is also very dope, but I wasn't feeling it. Basically the must-haves are Criminal Minded and By All Means Necessary.

You should get these albums
Criminal Minded By All Means Necessary Ghetto Music:The Blueprint Edutainment Sex And Violence Kristyles I Got Next sucked to me except for Step Into A World, Heartbeat, Blowe, Can't Stop Won't Stop, The MC songs. The Sneak Attack sucks too except for a few songs. I'm surprised you liked Hip Hop Lives Claaa7 because i didn't like it. I don't understand why people have a problem with KRS One preaching intelligence and education. I never complain about him being too preachy. Ignorant blacks need to be preached to because somebody needs to give their asses some knowledge instead of their dumb asses walking around ignorant, acting retarded and killing each other. The only problem i have with KRS One's last 7 albums is his beats because he's still a good mc. He should have DJ Premier do all of his beats for a album. That would be awesome to me if that happened. KRS said awhile ago that Premier charges too much money for his beats and Premier said he couldn't believe KRS said that because he said his beats aren't that expensive. |

criminal minded and By all means neccessary are classics, but noone mentioned return of the boom bap. That shit was bonkers, I still bump that shit. Also the KRS One self titled joint from 1995 I thought was dope also. Everything after that sucked in my opinion.

Claaa7 did mention Return Of The Boom Bap. I like that album a lot. Derek41 you should check out his Kristyles album. I think you'll like that. The rest of his albums after that are wack.

I can't believe some of ya'll aren't mentioning Edutainment. So what that he has skits preaching in between the songs? The album is still very good. Kenny Parker Show song is my shit. I love that beat and KRS rips it lyrically.

I recommend purchasing a hit out on the dude.
Not murder, just a hit to his over-inflated ego. Call it blasphemy, but the Teacha's a real git. I liked Hip-Hop Lives though. |

^get all them that crds said, 5 micers (in my opinion) are Criminal Minded, By Any Means Necessary & Return Of The Boom Bap....
to go with that list, check out Worldwide Hardcore - 1st live hip hop album, I Got Next was kinda heavy cop that aswell, all the rest of em, check em if you come across em, you might like em you might not....KRS is the greatest to me, so i like most things he's on, but he does get a bit preachy.....alot... Boom Bap & KRS ONE got a few hard Preemo beats on em, if that sways your choices in any way.
