Default can anyone confirm that "Nas Escobar" came from the wu?

"Nas had previously appeared on OB4CL, becoming the first non-Wu-Tang member to guest on a Wu-Tang album, and he soon began using the Mafioso moniker "Nas Escobar" bestowed on him by the Wu camp"

From the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Wiki page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Only_Built_4_Cuban_Linx...

Has anyone heard this before?

Nas Escobar came before OB4CL

because his best track, Deja Vu, was made before Verbal Intercourse

Yeah that Wiki page is bullshit, Escobar was before Linx, I remember this line from his verse on Mobb Deep's "Eye 4 An Eye" (Infamous was out in April `95, Linx was August `95)

Nas:
A drug dealer's dream
Stash CREAM keys on a triple beam
Five hundred SL green, ninety-five nickle gleam
Condominium, thug dressed like a gentleman
Tailor made ostrich, Chanel for my women friend
Murderin, numbers on your head while I'm burglarin
Shank is servin em, whassup to all my niggaz swervin in
New York metropolis, the Bridge brings apocalypse
Shoot at the clouds feels like, the holy beast is watchin us
Mad man my sanity is goin like an hourglass
Gun inside my bad hand I sliced tryin to bag grams
I got hoes that used to milk you
Niggaz who could've killed you
Is down with my ill crew of psychoes
NAS ESCOBAR movin on your weak production
Pumpin corruption in the third world we just bustin

The TC thread is saying "can anyone confirm that "Nas Escobar" came from the wu? "

Basically asking if Wu-Tang Clan were responsible for giving Nas that name, "Escobar". Then shows us this Wiki link stating it..

"Nas had previously appeared on OB4CL, becoming the first non-Wu-Tang member to guest on a Wu-Tang album, and he soon began using the Mafioso moniker "Nas Escobar" bestowed on him by the Wu camp."

Which is bullshit as I said, he had been using that name since The Infamous

from my understanding nas was cool with the wu camp since real early. ive read interviews that they would spend alot of time together, the homies get names to thats what happens when you chill with people. i guess thats the case here.

jUSt think of it liek this just cos wu came with certain ideas that was bought to the masses t doesnt mean that they created everything like that, for instance meth heard a guy around the way come with C.R.E.A.M term so its like its just guys building.but then its about who brings it first, thats the pioneer!

Nas had the name Escobar before Cuban Linx, check the Preemo remix of It Aint Hard To Tell, that little sample in the hook is saying Nas Escobar...

Joey Crack comes from Fat Joes graffiti days when his tag was, funnily enough "crack", seen a old pic of him & Krs One piecing up, and Joe is/was quite good, simple, but it worked...

Yeah that's true, but just because Infamous came out before Cuban Linx doesnt necessarily mean Eye For an Eye was recorded before Verbal Intercourse, they coulda did that back in 94 for all we know, but who knows

so i say the answer to the thread is "no"
