Vercetti is simply Scarface. Too derivative to be the best. The best character ever is clearly Samus. The best game ever is Super Metroid.

but yeah MGS has a lot of kickass characters, which is the most fun part of the game.

Rest is Scorpion, Duke Nukem, Zelda, Cloud+Sephi, Mario, Sonic, Megaman, Ryu Hayabusa, Larry, the main character from Grim Fandango and eeehm...
