People are saying that was a fair trade, but when you break it down, its not. Its ridiculous.

From a player standpoint your trading Paul for Scola, Martin, Odom and I think Dragic?

I could see the arguement for that, even though Odom is past his prime and Martin and Scola are role players.

But beyond that, why would NO max out its cap space. Thats the real reason the trade off. Maxing out your cap space with that roster is not a good idea.

And the Lakers get a star and 40 million in cap room?

it makes no sense.

Thats what all these talking heads are leaving out. Cap space, for a rebuilding team is key.

I love it though......fucking NBA is a bunch of clowns...both sides.

Thank YOu! You are more insightful than i give you credit for. This post automatically makes you a better NBA analyst than that moron Cowherd on ESPN radio, Steve Kerr, Michael Wilbon and Skip Bayless, jalen rose, chris brousard, etc. Not one of those morons actually looked at the contracts or considered the fact that the NBA owners have to pay NO's salaries. If no one will buy NO as it is, why the hell would they buy NO if they are maxed out with long term contracts with a bunch of players that don't even make them competitive for a title?

Why would the 29 managers want to take equal responsibility in paying huge contracts for Lamar Odom - $9 million this year and $8 million next year, and take on Scola's BEHEMOTH contract of $10 million per year for the next 4 years!?!?? Add to that Kevin Martin's $25 million over the next 2 seasons!!! That is over $80 million in contracts that the 29 GM's are supposed to say "sure we'll pick up the tab so that LA can get cap space." ?!?!??!??? Why would anyone buy new orleans hornets if they are in Luxury tax territory? And why would the 29 GM's want to accept a trade that requires them to pay luxury tax for a team they don't even really own!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?

Everyone yesterday acted like a bunch of reactionary morons without even researching the facts. I blame it on twitter and social media. A bunch of dumb heads who, just like the typical liberal media, never research shit before they start flapping their lips. And you can hate on David Stern all you want but he is really just the representative of the owners who don't want a bunch of huge overpaid garbage contracts on a team they had to take part ownership in without much choice.

There is no conspiracy. David Stern isn't just "nixing" trades to prevent super teams. Just because New Orleans doesn't have an owner doesn't mean the LA Lakers and Rockets should be allowed to just use them to dump a bunch of huge contracts to that they don't want anymore.

I wish the NBA was still locked out. Seeing how players and talking heads acted yesterday without knowing all the facts made me sick. And the unnecessary attacks on David Stern were unprofessional and misinformed. Michael Wilbon should be fired for getting racially charged and calling NBA owners "plantation owners." League looks like a circus right now.

LA would be better than the heat if they got CP3 and DH12. the heats big 3 dont mesh well. they all are primary scoring threats on their former teams.

the lakers would be nasty if they those three. d12 holds down the defensive end. cp3 and kobe running pick and rolls all day. takes some of the primary ball handling stress off of kobe with cp3 there.

you never know until they play, but if the Lakers got Paul and Howard, they'd be better.

Because Kobe can play without the ball, and has a post game.

And Chris Paul is a true point guard who can run a team. Both he and Paul are much more versatile players than James and Wade, who have to create their own shot to score and neither has a post game, nor is either a true PG.

And Dwight would rape Miami in the paint.

Thats just a bad matchup for the Heat all around.

The KNicks, if they get Paul will be a tough matchup as well, cuz Miami wont be able to hand Chandler and Amare down low.

I actually think that Paul going to the Knicks would be huge, because thats the missing piece for the Knicks. A point guard to run the show. If they get one, whether its Paul or someone else, they'll be true contenders.
