i think jah world and i can't go to sleep are the most sophisticated pieces of music in the wu catalog.
my only complaint is the album seems to lack the focus wu was famous for prior to it and therefore sounds more uninspired then i would like. the album is still amazing, idk why ppl even thought it was a close to good idea to say its anything but 9/10 |

and i agree, condition is the 'raptor porn' of the wu catalog when your actually trying to jack off.
it just doesn't do the trick. also few chorus' on the album were gay, like CLAP! on though u-god saying "dickface" on a skit makes up for all the albums flaws except conditioner. which is ass. |

"MC Conditioner" sounds like ODB and Snoop are just freestyling, passing a mic back and forth to eachother chillin on a couch smokin herb.
I wish it could have been changed with "The Abduction" from the Tony Touch album. |

i thot conditioner was cool, gza at the end freestyling i thot was pretty funny, out of all the collabos on their with the oustide artists i wanted to see gza on the track wit nas and the one wit redman, gza hardly collabos outside of the wu and when he does most of the time its with the underground artists.
Anyways when i listened to the W i didnt understand all the hate towards it, people called it an average album, if thats an average album the only thing good for someone saying that would be an album with god on the mic and satan on the boards with features by muhammed and buddah. The w is a classic. |

I dont think its that good at all. To this day i still can remember very clearly first listening to it on november 21 2000, after copping it that release day. I had been waiting the entire summer on this record and then when i heard i felt like there was missing something. To this day it feels the same when im listening to it.
Back then, wu was relatively big and i just wanted them to drop another Forever joint: A long album with the generals at their absolute peak of sharpness, and RZA with clear but hardcore production. None of these factors were there on the W, especially with the production i felt like some of it was too much trying to be dark and raw. I felt like RZA stopped evolving. Something he was constantly doing from 93 till 97, peaking with forever. Even ghost said he didnt like the album, because it was too dark. Also the guest, Snoop Dogg, Busta, redman and nas? Cmon this is a short album, let the wu members shine!!! Though there were some gems on it, i expected a more 'revolutionairy' album which it clearly wasnt (something like Dre dropped a year before with chronic 2001). Gravel Pit was a huge hit though, maybe they the entire album had to be more in that direction, cause it didnt really fit with the album. Last edited by biggorfries; 03-15-2009 at 04:24 AM. |

Alot of people around the time of it's release thought it was a verse that ODB had done over the phone, but it turns out it was from the Forever era I think cos he says something about 'I'm 29 years no educated' and he would have been 29 around '97 rather than 2000 when the W came out. I do love this album though, RZA was an a roll with this and Ghost Dog in the space of a year! Dope beats through out, I love Hollow Bones, Red Bull, Can't Go To Sleep, The Monument, Jah World... And I still feel like that 'Good Thing We Brought The Glock' track offa Iron Flag woulda fit much better on The W... Peace! |

Let My Niggaz Live is probably the worst Rza beat since "Stay In Your Lane"
