Do these two schools of thought have a place to meet?

If you're from the United State or the E.U. do you think if a religion and science back the same conclusion, that science should be suppressed to help suppress a religious agenda?

Or do you believe in non overlapping magesteria where these two institutions never meet or conflict?

Observation is a curious phenomenon itself, I'd say philosophy is observation, science is more data. But I get what you're getting at.

Well, there's that, but we also must acknowledge when debating the reality of whether something exists on the order of God, gods or deities, just because people desire something, that is not necessarily a proof or disproof.


Philosophy is considered by many to be secondary science, since it was philosophers who first gave us naturalism.

My concern is when we have people in science who say something absolutely must be random or unintelligible.
In the short 200 years of formal natural science, we have already warped nature to our will.
It is entirely possible an entity physical or otherwise can do the same if our limited minds can do it.

Blind faith is dangerous though, religion itself isn't bad but when you lack reason with your faith you are completely lost.
That's when religion becomes organized religion, that's when I get dumb protestants bitching about my swearing when Jesus cursed desciples.

Well, we are on the verge of the first entirely synthetic microbes, we've moved species to different parts of the world creating new types of mutation and accelerating in the case of the adriatic lizards the rate of mutation in some species.

humans give themselves way too much credit. we think we're god like or exceptional for discoverring the flight birds have been doing for billions of years. we didn't invent flight we can't destroy it, its just there as solid universal rules and we're doing something with it, but we really haven't gone 'that far'.

I agree that we haven't come as far as we've given ourselves credit for and that science is pretty much just us stumbling onto things. However, I think the quantum demonstrates that nothing is universally law.

There are non random things also, natural selection for instance is a non-random filter. We've made intelligible things. A team of British scientists this week actually created human sperm from scratch(hold laughter)

But the assumption there is no consciousness to the universe is just that, an assumption.
Basis for it is not full proof and there are counter arguments. We should avoid establishing naturalistic dogma and calling that science as well.

Objective is to be neutral when unsure and not to let agenda or passion get us into dogmatic pretension.
As you said, we've only come so far, the question of universal consciousness is one that I don't feel we can answer just yet.
